With that, I'll now turn it over to Congressman █████████████. Thank you and good evening, everyone. Thank you for being here today and for showing up for our community and our country. These past few weeks have been a tense and heartbreaking time for all of us. The killings of ██████████ and ████████████ are tragic, disgraceful, and a blatant abuse of power. An abuse of power that has become alarmingly normalized, and in extreme cases, it's been justified by my colleagues from across the aisle. This is not something we should be seeing in ███████, especially in a nation of laws and democratic values. And that's not just coming from me. I'm hearing this directly from you. Over the last couple of weeks, hundreds of constituents have contacted me in calling my office and asking for an end to the madness, an end to the terrorization of our communities at the hands of masked, lawless federal agents. I've heard your demands, seen your passion, and felt your fears, especially in the 5th congressional district as we look at what's taking place around the country. And that's why a couple of weeks ago, I voted against funneling your tax dollars into the hands of the federal agents terrorizing our communities. Accountability is not optional. Public confidence in ICE has dropped so sharply that even agency veterans worry the damage may be permanent. In fact, President █████'s handling of immigration is at a record low ██% disapproval based on his immigration policies. And when communities lose trust in law enforcement, cooperation disappears. And that makes everyone's life less safe. The broken promises we've seen in real time from this administration certainly doesn't help generate confidence. ████████████ and Secretary of Homeland Security ████████████ said they were targeting the, and I quote, worst of the worst, unquote. But everyone seems to be fair.
