- Transcript Hello, this is Congressman Mike Heridopoulos at 202-225-3671. I was calling to invite you to a live telephone town hall I'm holding right now. I wanted to give you an update on what's happening in Washington D.C. such as the border and Doge and take some questions from you. Just stay in the line to be connected. Please hold while we connect you to your Access Live event. This Access Live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast. And it's the reason why we have set up the social media sites like we have. We always put out every week what exactly is going on in Washington and who we're talking to. And we want to make sure that you know what is happening in Washington, whether it be by questions or just making sure you signed up for those. So remember tonight, if you want to ask a question, press star three and we'll get you into the queue. I look forward to speaking with all of you tonight who can get online within the next hour. And we're looking forward to having a productive conversation. So as we get ready to take the questions coming through, we want to first go to some of the questions that came in through social media. A young woman named Christine Sanateeque was asking the basic question, which is a good question. Why are you not holding an in person town hall meeting? Well, I would love to hold an in person town hall meeting, but one of the realities we face with a district that has over 800,000 people and is that how can you get a lot of folks getting a lot of information in a short period of time, especially given our busy work weeks. So what we have done is we've created, this is actually our second teletown hall because the last teletown allowed us to have over 5,000 people on the line. It also affords the ability to ask more questions in a thoughtful way and candidly, as you've probably seen in some of these other town hall meetings in person, it becomes a circus. People want to make a scene, they want to yell and scream. I want to just handle thoughtful questions that come in. And that's why Christine's question is so important. We want to avoid the circus. We want to avoid the chaos. We want you to ask questions live on the teletown hall here so I can give you straightforward answers. And you also see this very auto go on our social media. So if you can't stay on for the entire hour, just like we did last time, we'll put it up on social media. I'm sure we'll get a lot of questions on Medicare, Social Security, NASA, doge, the SAVE Act, Energy, whatever it might be over the next hour. We want to make sure you have the answers direct. And if you did not get an opportunity to hear our first tele town hall from about a month and a half ago, you can still go online and listen to that tele town hall and get the facts out. And if you have concerns or you don't like some of the answers, you know, feel free to send in your responses along the way. So Christine, thanks for sending that question in via social media. And the second question we'll get into as we're waiting on the queue here as the different questions are getting online, a lot of questions are coming in and rightfully so about Social Security and Medicare. Well Social Security and Medicare are earned benefits, meaning your entire work life you have paid into Social Security and Medicare and that's why we're not going to change that program. For those who don't know, Medicare is paid half by your employer and half by you or if you're self employed you pay both sides of that tax all in, it's about 15%. And so we believe that those programs should not be changed at all. These are earned benefits and it's something that we do not want to touch because when you earn your benefits the last thing the government needs to do is undercut that hard work that you put in in many cases 16, 17, 18 years old. So it's a program we are not going to be touching at all. But I will be commenting on Medicaid and ah, should that question come in. But right now we are focused on making sure that we are moving towards a balanced budget.

Just last week, 8,261 people got Nomorobo protection!

Overtime the phone rings only once, we all smile and go back to our quiet meal

I an on the do not call list, but it hasn't stopped the robos. Why don't you turn these people in to the do not call list and reap the fines for yourself??? If you need my permission, you have it.

Nomorobo has brought telephone peace to our home. I've recommended this to many of our friends. Thank you

What can I say? This is the best deal in a long time. It really works and am so grateful that I hear one ring, and no more. If anyone doubts this program, please get your friends, neighbors to sign up. Thank you so much for this program. I have gotten my friends to sign up. They love it

Great service for all phone users. Not 100%, however, a huge improvement in warding off most robocalls.

Still getting lots of calls

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Fantastic service that delivers on its promise. My phone used to ring at least a dozen times a day with sales/robo calls, but no more. I recommend your service to everyone.
