What is the biggest housing challenge currently impacting you and your family? What is the biggest housing challenge impacting you and your family right now? 1. Press 1. If it's high monthly rent payments that are making it hard to afford other basic necessities, press 2. If it's the dream of home ownership that feels completely out of reach due to massive down payments and ███████████ plus home prices, press 3. If it's fear of rent increases, displacement, or falling into homelessness. Or press 4. If it's finding an affordable home located near you, transit or your children's school. So I'll Repeat that, press 1. If it's high monthly rent payments, press 2. If it's the dream of homeownership feeling completely out of reach, press 3. If it's a fear of rent increases or displacement, press 4. If it's finding an affordable home located near your job or near transit or your children's schools. All right, next I want to talk about a powerful tool we're actively leveraging to get keys into doors. It's the Innovative Housing Trust Fund. And what what is that we created? This was created by the Board of supervisors in ████, and it's a fund that acts as a critical bridge that helps affordable housing developments cross the finish line in construction. Projects often assemble most of their financing but find themselves facing a funding gap that usually stalls these projects from completion. So our county investments step in to close that gap, allowing projects to break ground while unlocking much larger state, federal and private dollars. To date, the county has invested more than $███ million to help finance roughly ███████ affordable homes across the region. We're also aggressively using public land. We've turned ██ county owned properties into housing, creating roughly ████ affordable homes for ████ residents, including four senior housing developments that are already open. So when you look at our total regional housing goals, we still need to build at least ███████████ new homes. We need that number to reach our goal. And while the county has done an incredible job hitting ██% of our overall targets, we're still lagging behind on homes for very low income residents.
