Hi, this is Congresswoman ██████████████ at ████████████. I'm calling to invite you to join a live telephone town hall that I'm holding right now. I want to give you a few updates on the most pressing issues facing our country and also take some questions from you. Just stay on the line to be connected. To Ask a Question, press ██████████. The call will begin momentarily. Please hold while we connect you to your access. Live event. This AHCCCS live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast so that we don't have disastrous fires like this. Fire will always be part of the system, but we need to make sure that the forests are managed in a way that they're not catastrophic, and we need to be a better partner with local governments in the recovery. And especially we know that wildfires in ████, devastating big fires, are always followed by devastating floods because when the vegetation is burned off, then the ground can't take very much rain and we don't need to have a pattern of floods like we've been seeing in █████████████. So I'm working with my colleagues on that. And then another issue that I know will come up, so I'm just going to address it right off the bat. I know it's especially important to a lot of my here in southern ████, but it's our public lands. Last month, President █████ reduced the boundaries of the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument and the Bears Ears National Monument. I supported that decision. The lands that are no longer monuments are still federal lands. They're still managed by the blm. And the important archaeological, historic and natural resources remain protected by several laws. The new boundaries restore a better balance of work where the land that isn't inside the monuments anymore is managed for multiple use, and that gives better access for grazing, recreation. The traditional uses that happen out on those lands and the real treasures are still part of the national monuments and they'll be managed as monuments. And I'm happy to still take questions on that, but I know it's one of the things that will come up. It is August, so the house is out of session. I have not been in ████████████████ with my colleagues for a couple of weeks, which has been great for my mental and emotional health. It's always nice to be in ████. There's a lot happening around the District, and so I will wrap up with that. I want to hear what's on your minds. So let's go to the first question. Great. Again if you have any questions throughout the night, go ahead and hit Star three and you'll be added to our queue to ask questions. Our first question is going to come from ███████. ███████, you are now live with the Congresswoman. Oh, okay. Thank you. Can you hear me? Yes. I want to thank you, Representative ██████, for making this opportunity available. And I'll just be candid. I'm kind of alarmed at the president's actions and behaviors and, and the fact that we're spending or creating tax dollars to war, which is expensive, and detention facilities at home and this aggressive law enforcement. And it doesn't make me feel safer. And I pay the government my taxes quarterly. And with the cuts and services, I don't know if anything can be done to correct some of this or influence your vote on things like continuing the war and what have you. So you used a word in your question I think is the key to the answer to this. You said appropriating tax dollars and.
