We've made enormous progress securing our borders and achieving tax and regulatory relief for the economy. But the cost of living and the international situation are still of great concern. If you're just joining us, this is Congressman ██████████████. You're on a conference call with folks throughout the 5th Congressional District. While we're waiting for the dialogue to finish, I've been offering my thoughts about the major issues we're confronting in ██████████. And I'll try to get to as many folks as possible once the dial out ends. We're also hearing a lot about the war in ████, and let me just quickly run down my general thoughts on the subject. I believe the President acted within his inherent constitutional authority to repel invasion when he launched the attack on ████ back in April. We had clear intelligence that Iran would launch a first strike against ██ Military bases in response to an expected Israeli attack on their nuclear weapons center. I also believe that negotiations with this regime are futile and the only way this is going to end is with the collapse of that regime. I've long advocated arming the resistance groups within ████ so that they can take down this regime. It's terrorized and brutalized the population now for ██ years. I don't understand why the President declared a ceasefire after we devastated their military infrastructure, which then gave them an opportunity to regroup and reorganize. And I'm not comfortable with the fact that Congress has not acted. Although the courts ruled during the █████ attacks on █████, this was within the president's power, I don't think it can be stretched much further. There's going to be a time when we need to have a serious national discussion, resetting the war powers with Congress. But that kind of a debate in the middle of hostilities only gives aid and comfort to the Iranian regime and undermines our own country. We're going to need to end this as soon as possible, bring the regime to an end, and then get the powers back within their constitutional guardrails. Finally, let me address the administration's immigration enforcement efforts, which I strongly support. About ██ million illegal aliens were allowed into this country in the four years of the █████ administration. The estimated cost of supporting this largely impoverished population was about ███ billion. Doll. Think of that as about $████ for an average American household. And worse, it introduced some of the most dangerous criminals and cartels from the Third World into our communities, and that's produced a death toll from murders, DUIs, and drugs that's enormous and tragic and entire.
