But our main job as members of Congress is to actually care for members of the public. Take care of those basics. So I do think I'm hearing Republican members that I talk to in private conversation. Starting to understand that their constituents are going to be hurt. I also think it's important for us to fight to keep health care costs down. Open enrollment starts on ████████████, and it's going to be a shock to a lot of people the cost of their health care premiums. In many cases, a lot of people are going to see a doubling of their premiums at a time when so many families are struggling. They're struggling to pay their rent, they're struggling to put food on their table. They're struggling to pay their mortgage, pay their college loans. We've got to do better than this. And this can't be about Democrats and Republicans. We've got more pre submitted questions, but let me go ahead and take a couple questions from some of the callers. ████████████. Do you have a question? Yes. I'm wondering if you are going to stand tall for Obamacare. Thanks, donald. I am. And the reason why I'm fighting. Part of the reason why I ran for Congress after President █████ got elected was as a doctor, I knew he was going to work on health care. And really, in these ██ years, we've been expanding access to health care coverage. Trying to address the cost of health care, trying to address the cost of medications. And in ██████████, in ██████████, we've gotten pretty close to universal coverage for all the folks in ██████████. That's being taken away. The big beautiful bill that passed last summer takes away Medicaid from a whole bunch of Americans, tens of millions of Americans, and that's going to be devastating, not just the Sacramento, but to the rural communities that are already struggling to provide coverage. We fought that one. They passed the bill Anyways, we're trying to get some of those Medicaid benefits reinstated again. I don't know if that'll happen. Shut down. But the ACA subsidies really are how so many working Americans, middle class Americans, are able to afford their health care premiums. We've got to extend those subsidies. I've talked to a number of Republicans who understand that their constituents are going to be hurt by this. There'll be a doubling. We also have to get the federal government open. So I'm not sure what the sequencing of this is. I've been disappointed with Speaker ███████ because he has not brought Republicans back to ████████████████ i've gone back there. Some Republicans have gone back there and had a chance to talk to some of them. They recognized. We've got to extend those subsidies, and that's what we're fighting for right now. Let's open the government. Let's get the subsidies extended. my sense is it'll probably be a compromise where extend the subsidies for a year and hopefully we'll get the government open in the next few days certainly i
