Hi, this is █████ from SEIU Healthcare Illinois calling to live Connect you to a telephone town hall meeting for private agency home care workers where we'll be providing updates on the state budget that was just passed and answering questions about what it means for seniors and home care workers. You can call the member Resource center at ████████████ with any questions. You are joining a live conference already in progress. Please be aware that your local phone company may leave your line open for up to ██ seconds after you leave the conference. If you would like to ask the speaker a question, please press 0 for months because each of you understands how desperately these raises are needed, as well as the effect this will have on the seniors who already struggle to access home care services. But tonight we're going to unpack what happened, what our next steps are, some of the silver linings of things we did accomplish this year that did make it into the state budget. We'll start with a budget update and recap this year's legislative session. Then we'll open the call for some questions and some feedback and to hear how this is sitting with you all before discussing what's next for our union and our fight to save home care. And we do want to hear from you tonight. So please press 0 at any time to get connected to a screener to ask your question or just share what you're going through. And now I'd like to introduce two home care worker leaders who were standing arm in arm with thousands of members from across the state and leading this fight from beginning to end. With me tonight are ███████████ From Champaign and Ms. ██████████████████████ from ███████. These women have been down in Springfield day in and day out and were in the Capitol over this weekend when there was no one there but legislators, all the other lobbyists. Everyone else had gone home but our home care workers were there making sure they were heard from sun up to sundown, fighting until the very, very end. █████, can you introduce yourself? Thank you, ███. Yes, my name is ███████████ and I am in ███████████████████. Of course, I do have a couple roles. I do. I am a union steward for my area. I have also sat on bargaining committees and I am a member of the executive board. I have been working with help at home for seven years now. And as far as, you know, like what I'm feeling in this moment right now, I will be honest and say that Monday morning I felt defeat with all the hard work, just like ███ said, you know, that we have been putting in through this whole entire legislative session. But after a couple days, I've turned that defeat into determination because I'm determined that we will get a raise increase for ██, ██. Thank you, ███. Thank you, ███. Thanks, █████. Now, let's hear from miss ████████. Hello, everybody. My name is ██████████████████████, and I'm a home care worker from ███████ downtown with help at home. I've been a home care worker for ██ years, and I'm an SCIU member, organizer, and I'm also a newly elected executive board member. And I was in ███████████ for the whole weekend. And we talked. Legislators, we rallied. We stayed up to ████████. We had talked and talked, and █████. And █████. And still they did not pass the bill. So I was, I felt defeated. But right now, I'm determined to get my feet back on the ground and get everything.
