Hello, this is ███████████, your ████ senator at ████████████. I'm calling Ohioans to invite you to a live telephone town hall. You don't have to go anywhere. Just stay on the line and we'll start shortly. I'm committed to being a customer service first senator for you, and this call is part of that commitment. If you have a question at any point during the call, please press Star three. I'll. I'll be answering as many questions as I can live on the call. Just stay on the line. We're going to get started in just a moment. Please hold while we connect you to your Access Live event. This Access Live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast. CNBC named ████ the number one state in the country to do business. Number one state in the country to do business. For our reputational value of getting businesses to invest and grow and create jobs in our state. That's so important. And so that was great news that we were able to secure that ranking last week. Remember, if you want to ask a question, Press Star three. Press Star three if you want to ask a question. We'll get you in the queue. So why does that matter? When I started working in public office or when cnbc did their first rating in ████, we were 34th. So we were the 34th best state or worst state as you look at that ranking, to do business. And over the years we climbed to number one. How did that happen? A lot of things. We reformed state of Ohio. We got rid of junk lawsuits. We eliminated taxes that taxed business for investing in new machinery and equipment, the very things that they needed to compete against China. Ohio used to tax those things. We eliminated those taxes. We cut the income tax in ████ so that we would be more competitive place for people to live. It was very important when I was Secretary of state, we made it easier for people to form businesses in ████. Rather than having to fill out paper forms and wait days to get certified, we automated the whole system. What used to take four days now took four hours. So lots of things that we did that were super important to making ████ a better place to do business. One of those things when I was lieutenant governor was expanding career technical education because we want more students to be able to graduate career ready right out of high school, connected to a job in many cases before they even graduate high school so they can go to work. No college debt, no wandering around trying to find a job. Let's get them job skills while they're in high school. Let's get them working immediately. So remember, if you want to join our conversation tonight, press star three and we'll get you in the queue to ask some questions. But very happy for ████. We were the, we were the worst. We were one of the worst states to do business this century. And we are now the first, the best state to do business. So it doesn't mean that we don't have things to work on. We always have lots of work to do. But part of I talked about customer service. I want to know what's on your mind. So I mentioned that CNBC ranked ████ number one state in the country to do business. And my question for you tonight, first question, first poll question. We do these poll questions. What do you believe is the best thing policymakers can continue to work on to create the momentum that will make ████ the best state to live, work and start a business and create jobs? If you think that's lowering taxes, press 1. If you think it's focusing on housing affordability, press 2. If you want us to focus on bringing down the cost of essentials like gas and groceries, press 3. If you believe that we should bring more jobs back to ███████ From █████, press 4. So this is how we're going to rank these tonight. If you think it's lower taxes, press 1. If you think it's how.
