Hello, this is Congressman ████████████. I invite you to stay on the line to be instantly connected to a live toll free telephone town hall meeting I'm currently holding regarding issues important to families in Southern ████████. To join in on this important live town hall meeting where you can talk to me in person and ask questions, just stay on the line. If I can be of assistance, please visit my ██████████████████████████ or call my office at ████████████. Thank you. Please hold while we connect you to your Access Live event. This Access Live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast. And they need ██ votes to bring up anything in the Senate, Republicans have ██ members, so they need some Democrats support. █████████████, their leader, did not allow that to happen. And so the votes went down and we've been standing waiting for the Senate to come back and vote again. And they are planning to do it yet this evening. And hopefully there will be some cooler heads for ████. Understand that Senator █████████ has said he will support it. That will make it bipartisan. Hopefully we can get six others with him to vote with Republicans to get that or at least five others and then the vice president come in and break the tie so we can move forward and not have a shutdown. We don't need a shutdown. It solves nothing. The mandatory spending will continue on, but military families will have their pay delayed. That's not mandatory spending. The border control agents aren't mandatory. They won't have their expenditures. They'll continue to work though, as essential employees, but not have pay given to them until the shutdown. We can go to air traffic controllers. National parks. I remember during the █████ and █████ administrations shutdowns there, they shut down access to national parks. I don't think President █████ will do that. He believes that the American public should still be able to enjoy their parks. Forest rangers may not be paid until the shutdown starts, but those are things that go on. But in my district, my office remain open. My staff are essential employees. They will work. We will rearrange certain things. I may become the driver for the staff joining me in getting out to meetings with my constituents during a shutdown because they won't be paid for travel expenses, etc. But I'm glad to transport them if they're willing to ride with me. And we will do the work of the people. We will continue to try to answer questions relative to Social Security, Veterans affairs issues all of the above that frankly are going to be hurt during this time if the shutdown goes any length period of time. But we want to serve and I think there are a lot of government employees who want to do that. Again, the live tele town hall meeting we are holding here. If you want to ask a question or make a comment, press star 3 on your telephone keypad at any time. And while I'm at it, let me say that if you want to get on our weekly newsletter email newsletter and you're not on it already, there's an awful lot of people on that weekly newsletter. But that press star 6 on your telephone keypad again, you won't be cut out of being on the tele town hall, but you can tell a receptionist your email address so we can email you that weekly newsletter, which can only be used for that purpose. We can't sell your email. We can't share it with anybody. We can't use it for campaign purposes. It can only be used for this official purpose with the newsletter. So if you'd like to be on the newsletter list and hear what's going on each week in Congress.
