Hello, this is your congressman ██████████ at ██████████. I am holding a telephone town hall right now to answer your questions and give you an update on what's happening in Congress and around the ninth district. You'll be able to ask a question by pressing star 3 at any time during the call. Just stay on the line. The call will begin momentarily. Please hold while we connect you to your Access Live event. This access live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast. Cease fire between ██████ and ███████. President keeps saying there is a ceasefire. There's not. That war continues. I understand the enemies that Israel faces. Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran. But at some point they've got to work with the people who want to make peace. And there are a lot of people in ███████ who want to make peace. We need a ceasefire in that war too needs to stop. So that's one big issue. When we get back to Congress next week, we'll be dealing with that. We'll also be dealing with the fact that the Department of Homeland Security still has not been fully funded for the year. Which has a profound impact on TSA agents. The Coast Guard and FEMA, among others. We have a bill, the Senate passed to fund all of those agencies that House Republicans have been sitting on and not allowing us to have a boat. We're hoping we can force that vote so we can fund those things. What we don't want to do is simply fund ICE and Border Patrol without reform. The Republican plan right now is to do a reconciliation package to fund ICE and the Border Patrol. This despite the fact that last year's reconciliation package gave them an additional $███ billion basically three times their normal budget. So the solution again, the Senate's passed a bill that would fund all those other agencies. I'm hoping that next week Speaker ███████ will finally give us the chance to vote on it. If he does, it'll pass. No problem, no question. A couple other issues. There's the FISA ███ reauthorization. Which is now set to expire at the end of next week. In general, I think the reforms that were put around FISA last time have made a big difference. For the uninitiated. This is basically the ability of our intelligence services. They set up a database to track foreign persons who they think have links to terrorism. But occasionally those communications bring in ██ persons. We need to place limits on the ability of our intelligence services, the NSA primarily, to look at information on Americans. And we made reforms on that last time and the number of queries into US persons has dropped from over ███████ a year to around ███████. That's an improvement. But I do not support extending FISA for one reason. I don't trust ████████████. He has made it very clear that he will use the federal government, Justice Department, FCC, Department of Defense. He will use it all. To persecute his personal and political enemies, not within the interests of the United States people. So I do not support extending that. They will try to get a vote on that next week as well. Trying to think there was one other thing I thought that was going on. Well, those are the big things of the congressional side locally. I continue to work on housing, education, healthcare. I mentioned the ██████████████ had an article this morning talking
