Now, I want to tell you a little bit about what's in this, Bill, if you haven't heard very much. At the core, this bill is a very large tax cut, several trillion dollars. Most of which goes to the richest households in America and giant corporations. The average tax cut for somebody making more than $5 million a year is well over $250,000 each year. That's more than what an average American makes in three years. They are giving a tax cut. That is more than the average annual. Income of. Most everyday Americans. The plan also has hundreds of billions of dollars in new tax breaks for corporations. Including multinational corporations that ship jobs overseas. Altogether, they want to spend over $4 trillion on tax breaks. But of course, tax cuts for the rich are never free. We. End up paying for that bill in one way or another, and this bill directly makes everybody else pay the price, it will raise costs on nearly 80 million poor and middle class families in very specific and direct ways, and I want to tell you about them right now. This bill makes the largest cut to the program, Medicaid. In us history. It would be the largest rollback of healthcare coverage ever. It would, 17 million people would lose their health insurance. It also raises costs for everybody who manages to keep their insurance, their premiums, their copays. And other health care costs. The bill also cuts the supplemental nutrition assistance program, sometimes known as snap or food stamps. There are estimates that almost 3 million people will lose will lose snap benefits. And 18 million children could lose the benefits that they get on school lunch or school breakfast. There are also increases in costs for energy, which will mean higher utility bills and education assistance. It also will affect rural hospitals. There's an estimate from nonpartisan sources that almost 350 hospitals all over the country will close. Due to the cuts to Medicaid. In New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. We are talking about. Almost a combined 3 million people who could lose their health insurance. 3 million people. Over 1.2 million people who could lose their food assistance. There are eleven hospitals in New York state alone that are at risk of closing, five in Pennsylvania. That are at risk of closing. In a very real and direct way. This bill is going to take money out of your pocket. And give it to rich people in corporations. This has never happened before in american history. There have been bills in american, in modern history that have been.
