He says are you personally working to end the shutdown? You have friends across the aisle you can talk to? Well Gay, I actually proposed two I think pretty significant pieces of legislation. One was the Eliminate Shutdowns act that would eliminate shutdowns for all time. It's a pretty simple bill, no bells or whistles. It just simply creates automatic two week rolling continuing appropriations for any department that hasn't been funded by an appropriation. Gives the appropriators all the time they need to fund something without shutting down the government or using government workers as pawns in this dysfunction that unfortunately was voted down. Even Republican appropriators vote against that. Could not even could not believe it. The excuse they gave is it would undercut this vaunted sank or sanct appropriation process. And let me describe this appropriation process. Appropriators on both sides of the aisle were complaining that I would undercut with my Eliminate Shutdown Act. I've been here ██ years, should have passed ███ appropriation bills before the start of the fiscal year is going to fund. We've passed six.
