This is Congressman ██████████████. Stay on the line and you'll be connected to a live toll free telephone town hall meeting I'm currently holding for residents of Fond du ███ County. We're talking about the current government shutdown and how it affects you and your family. To join in on this live town hall meeting where you can talk to me in person. Stay on the line. If you can't stay on the line but you'd like to get in touch with me, call my office later at ████████████. We'll be with you shortly. Please hold while we connect you to your Access Live event. This Access Live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast. Voted, I believe ██ times right now to keep the government open, but because they need ██ votes and the Republicans only have ██ votes, they have not been able to keep the government open. I think they're going to take another vote tomorrow. They've gotten three people to vote with them to keep the government open, but that's not enough. I will have to say the majority of my constituents, when I talked to them over the weekend, did not seem bothered that the government is not open. But there are people who are going to be affected in the near future. We're going to have food stamps affected. President █████ was able to weigh in and keep the Women, Infants and Children's program for nutrition for young mothers and their children going. But nevertheless, I think beginning ████████████, you're going to see it affect people. Not only the food stamps, but it's also going to affect people who have to pay premiums for what's referred to as Obamacare. Those are going to go up by ████████████. And of course, government employees are not being paid. I know ███████████ is trying to get a separate bill paying the federal employees through, but right now, Democrat leadership in the Senate has said they're not interested in that. They're kind of adapting an all or nothing strategy and it's kind of frustrating. I've been through a shutdown before. I think this time in part because President █████ has tried to make the shutdown as gentle as possible. It hasn't made all the news stories that the shutdown made that took place in ████████████. But in any event, I'm in ██████████ right now trying to give suggestions to our leadership team. We did have a long conference call this morning and we've really done all we can to make things as general as possible. And like I said, soon things are going to be more difficult. And until we get at least four more Democrats on board, I think we're going to continue to have a problem. In any event, we have, I think, two or three hundred people on the line right now, so we'll open things up for the first question. Yes. Thank you for that update, Congressman. And to those of you who just joined, you're on with Congressman ██████████████. This is a telephone town hall for residents of ██████████████████. If you have a question for the congressman, please press start.
