I'm here to give you nothing but the fact that. Let's start with three of them. First of all, Republicans control the House of Representatives, Republicans control the United States Senate, and ████████████ is the President of the █████████████. This is their government. And because the Republican Party did not have the necessary votes to pass their plans without the help of the Democrats, that means this is their shutdown, too. At the start of the shutdown, Democratic leaders and our fellow Brooklynites, Senate Minority Leader ███████ and House Minority Leader ████████, went to the White House to negotiate a resolution to avoid the shutdown in good faith. But ████████████ and Republicans have nothing but bad intentions. We extended an olive branch and received only racist memes and mockery instead. So let me be clear. The Democrats will not be bullied into complying with any deceitful scheme to rob the American people of their access to health care, full stop. We will not be strong armed into bailing out ████████████ because he and his party failed at doing their job. And we will not stand by while this radical regime wages a crusade of cruelty against the American people. And so, folks, here we are on the seventh day of █████'s shutdown and sadly, it's already clear that the President and Congressional Republicans have no interest in ending it anytime soon. Rather than devote any effort towards reopening the government they are singularly focused on on abusing this shutdown to advance their own twisted political goals. They're firing many of the federal employees who they failed to eliminate in the doge cuts that kicked off this administration. They're refusing to extend the ACA enhanced premium tax credit that are the only thing stopping ██ million Americans from having their premiums double. They're even threatening to withhold back pay that furloughed workers are required to receive by a law that ████████████ himself signed. Truly, I've never seen a collection of so called public servants hold such a genuine and callous disregard for their own community. And while Speaker ███████ continues to give his members more and more vacation time to prevent them from crossing party lines to reopen the government, House Democrats actually understand the urgency of reaching a deal to reopen the federal government.
