If you would like to ask the speaker a question, please press zero. ICE is raiding neighborhoods. They're violating people's civil rights. They're attacking peaceful protesters. And they're tearing families apart. They are literally executing people in the street. And that, my friends, is not law and order. It's an unconscionable abuse of power. And it starts from the top. █████ is trying now to distance himself from the violence that he has unleashed. He's looking for a scapegoat, someone to throw under the bus so that he doesn't take the blame. But we are not going to let him back away from the situation that he created. Everything that we are seeing right now is a direct result of █████'s immigration enforcement agenda. This is what he wanted. He wants us scared, he wants us divided, and he wants blue cities and states like ours to feel like they are under siege. But we're not afraid, and we are not going to be intimidated. Last week, I voted to block all funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which includes ICE and Border Patrol. I will not vote to fund an agency that is out of control and killing people with impunity. If █████ wants to run ICE like his own private army, he is not going to get a blank check from me. Unfortunately, Republicans who control the House force this bill through despite overwhelming Democratic opposition. But our fight isn't over. The Senate now has the bill. They voted the bill down today. Every Democratic senator and eight Republicans voted against the bill. We are hearing reports of a compromise being reached with the White House. Yes, it might mean a partial government shutdown, but protecting our neighbors is the most important thing right now, and cutting off funding is a big part of that fight. It's the best tool we have to immediately stop ICE. But it's not the only tool we have. I have called for an independent and transparent investigation into ICE's use of force. I've also co sponsored articles of impeachment against Homeland Security Secretary ████. She is enabling and encouraging this violence and must be removed from office. And it's why I voted twice to impeach ████████████, and I will keep fighting to remove him from office. A president who stokes fear, encourages abuse, and targets communities for his own political gain is unfit to lead this country. But the fight isn't just happening in ████████████████ it's happening right here in ██████████.
