- Transcript Hello, this is Congressman Chuck Edwards and I'm inviting you to a telephone town hall happening right now. We'll connect you shortly to this event where I'll discuss issues that are important to you. We're committed to representing and listening to families across Western North Carolina. It's really important to me to hear your thoughts and opinions. So if you can please join me, Congressman Chuck Edwards, at my official town hall by staying on the line Paid for by the Office of Congressman Chuck Edwards, 828-435-7310. To be added to our Do not call list, please press 9. Please hold while we connect you to your Access Live event. This Access Live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded, or rebroadcast. I'd like to start by updating you on some of the work that I'm doing on your behalf in Washington, D.C. to start less than two weeks ago on March 13, I held my ninth live town hall since coming to Congress. That event was hosted at AB Tech in Asheville and it was widely attended. The crowd was lively and passionate. While it was clear that we didn't agree on everything, I really enjoy the opportunity to answer folks questions and to dispel some of the current misinformation that's being spread. Talking with constituents will always be one of my favorite activities, and even if tensions are high, I'm not known to shy away from getting out in the community and hearing your concerns. I'm here to represent you, the people of Western North Carolina, even when our opinions differ. Additionally, two days from today, March 27 marks six months since Western North Carolina was hit by Hurricane Helene. It's been a confusing, exhausting and busy six months, but I wanted to remind you that I'm in this for the long haul and we're all in this together as we look at recovery as a whole. Western North Carolina has made great strides, and while we have far to go, here are a few milestones that I think you should Nearly 158,000 families have received over $410 million in financial assistance to recover from Helene. Over 6,700 families have received nearly $20 million for the repair or the replacement of their private roads and bridges. 5.7 million cubic yards of debris have been cleared from public right of ways and 1.4 million have been removed from our region's waterways. Last December, I drafted and passed a $110 disaster aid bill that included about $20 billion specifically for Western North Carolina and will have access to tens of billions of dollars more. But we still have a long way to go. Rome wasn't built overnight, and western North Carolina won't be either. Still, I'm dedicated.

Just last week, 8,279 people got Nomorobo protection!

Loving this! Every time I hear a single ring and then...nothing... I get a sinister grin on my face like I have just swatted an annoying mosquito! I look over at my husband and he has that same satisfaction on his face. Thank you!
