- Transcript Hello, this is United States Representative Jimmy Panetta. I'm calling again to invite you to participate in another town hall that's starting in just a few minutes during tonight's telephone town hall we're going to discuss the president's reconciliation tax bill and. The impact that that bill will have on California's 19th congressional district, especially when it comes to health care coverage for working families, Medicaid and the Affordable Care act. I'm going to be joined by experts from the California Medical association, the California Hospital association, and a local community health center. All who can speak direct. Directly to what this means for patients. If you're interested in attending and listening, please stay. On the line and you will automatically be connected. Or if you want to call back and join in, please call 8333. 800413. If you have any questions, you can also call a 314-24-2229 but again, stay on the line to be connected to my telephone town hall, or you can call back to be connected at 833-38-0041. Three. Again, this is Jimmy Panetta, and I thank you. Please hold while we connect you to your access live event. This access live event is currently in progress. Please note this call may be monitored, recorded, or rebroadcast if you would like to ask a question during today's event, press Star three on your telephone keypad at any time. Say that the federal government has played its part in a local solution or works hard to affect and enhance the lives and livelihoods. Of the people of the 19th congressional district. Unfortunately, that wasn't the purpose of the press. Conference today, and it's not the purpose of this telephone town hall instead, as we did today. And as we do on this phone call, we want to make sure that we stand together. To press the alarm about the president's tax law. Which I call. A self inflicted wound that will hurt working families throughout the country. It will decrease health coverage in the 19th congressional district and potentially lead to closures of rural hospitals in many communities throughout the country. That's just a few things that this bill will do. Now, this reconciliation law will do those things. In an attempt to pay for an extension of the tax breaks of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs act package. $4 trillion in tax breaks for billionaires, for corporations, and even the purchase of gun silencers. And that's going to be paid for first by adding 3.8 trillion to our debt. That includes 3.4 trillion to our deficits over the next ten years. But also. By slashing nearly 1 trillion with a t trillion dollars to Medicaid, which potentially and as the experts have laid out there, could kick off 17 million people from their healthcare coverage now. How they do that is in a number of ways, and I just kind of want to go. Through. Some of the provisions in the law that I'm sure will be expanded on by our two experts that we have on the line. The first one is that it limits provider. The provider. Tax, basically up to a tune of 191,000,000,000 with a b in cuts in federal contributions to state Medicaid programs. It's just basically a flat out cut of 191,000,000,000 to these contributions, that means you're going to. See. States, not expand. That means you're going to see cuts in coverage at the state level. The second way they're going to do this is restrictions on state directed payments, basically. They're going to tie Medicaid reimbursements to Medicare reimbursements. And if you know my work, it's been a big part of my time on the ways and means committee, ensuring that. There's proper Medicare reimbursements because right now. there isn't such now i know that in this bill

Just last week, 8,269 people got Nomorobo protection!
