With the county commissioners and the representatives and the mayors and anyone who would work with me on saving Penn State School and Penn State Hazelton, you probably saw in the last few weeks the board of trustees has said yes, those two campuses can continue to grow. I had over 5000 constituents contact me on that issue alone, 95% of them said, save Penn. State school, save Penn State Hazelton. That's exactly what we did. And that just means so much. Not just the jobs, but the economic opportunities, the employment. Opportunities, the educational opportunities. That are available there. Up in Lazern county. We've worked with people to turn a blighted vacant YMCA into early education facility for 150 children. That's just the first stage. The next stage is to fix the gym and the pool again to get it back to what it used. To be one of the keys, of course. Is when we looked at what worked in Jim Thorpe. People come for the train rides. They come. To bike and hike on the DNL trail. We have a meeting coming up tomorrow night at 530 at LTC in Tamakwa to talk about how the trail can get connected from Tamuqua to Jim Thorpe and all the way over eventually to Pottsville, and so. If you have any interest in biking. And hiking across Google county. Across Carbon county. That meeting is 530. Tomorrow night at the Morgan center. In Tamakwa also coming up next week, also at LTC. On Wednesday from 01:00 to 03:00 in the afternoon, I'm going to be chairing a meeting of the Senate policy committee, looking at the possibility of a new dental. College for rural Pennsylvania, the first of its kind. Looking at several sites in the Tamaka area. We have a terrible shortage of dentists. Dental assistants, dental hygienists. And so if you're interested in that subject. You may want to join us on June 18. In Tamakwa to learn more. All right, let's see Zach understand you have a question for me from minersville. Yes. There we go. So I just received about, probably about a month ago. There's a new road tax on electric and plug in vehicles. Now, I drive an older plug in vehicle. I only get about 7. Miles on a charge. I'm wondering why I'm getting penalized the extra $50 a year when I'm just getting a slightly better gas mileage than most people. And still paying the gas tax. Let me do some research on that. I can give you the basics of it. Was that. The fear was as electric cars continue to get more and more and more popular, That they don't pay the gas tax, which is how we fix our roads and bridges. And the thought was, if we didn't do something to help bring some additional dollars into Penn State. I'm sorry, independ. We'd have a real problem. But why? That number was chosen just for somebody like you. That might only be getting. A tiny savings rather than, say, someone that's. 100% electric. Let me know. I'll ask my staff to let me know. And, Zach, we'll get back to you with some more details on that, but the bottom line was. penndot was complaining that they just didn't have enough money to fix the roads and bridges and they were afraid that electric vehicles were paying zero you can understand why that could be an issue again if you want to get in line to ask me a question just
