  • Transcript Hi, it's Gretchen Whitmer inviting you to a live telephone town hall right now. We'll also be taking your questions live. It's free to participate, so just stay. On the line to join. For any questions, feel free to give my office a call at 517-335-7858. Or. Visit Michigan. Govwitmer, thanks for your time. You are joining a live conference already in progress. Please be aware that your local phone company may leave your line open for up to 32 seconds after you leave the conference, if you would like. To ask the speaker a question, please press zero. There's a gender gap in these programs. With women outnumbering men two to one. And that's why. Last week or a couple of weeks ago, I signed an executive directive that makes an effort to reach more young men to boost their enrollment in our higher education and skills training programs. I also just recently talked about good paying jobs. MiChigan it was the arsenal of democracy. We know that. We've got the skills to bring supply chains home, grow manufacturing. And protect our national security. When we use those skills to build more ships. Planes and semiconductors here in America. So all of these things that we've been able to get done is really with a goal towards shoring up Michigan's economy, making sure that. There's opportunity for everyone cutting red tape and making Michigan a place where innovators can grow a business. And lower cost for people, so there's a lot of work to do this year. I'm excited that. I've got great partners. Like Senator Veronica Kleinfeld. Senator Kleinfeld's been tenacious. She's an advocate for you, her constituents on the 11th Senate district. And she has secured investments for the Clintondale school security system, $10 million dedicated to replacing lead lines $4 million for Fraser to improve their industrial corridor to save jobs 6.6 million for underground water infrastructure for the city of Roseville and over 20 million in other local. Infrastructure investments. I'm really glad to be here with Senator Kleinfeld. I know that we're looking forward to your questions, and we're joined by. The colonel of the Michigan State Police, James Grady, who is with us as well as the head of Michigan veterans and affairs director Brian Love. So we are all eager to hear what's on your mind. And with that, I'm going to hand it right back over to you. Amanda. Thank you, Governor. And now we're going to take a question from the audience, so we have Katie from Roseville, please go ahead with your question. Hi. Thank you. My question is, how are we going to see costs lowered for Michiganders this year? hi katie thanks for the question i appreciate it michigan can expect to see costs lowered in a few ways this year
