Hi, this is your congressman ████████████. I'm hosting a telephone town hall right now to answer your questions and address your concerns. You'll be able to ask a question by pressing star 3 at any time during the call. Just stay on the line. The call will begin momentarily. If you need casework assistance, please call my office at ████████████. Please hold while we connect you to your access live event. This access live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast. Doing everything right and still feeling like they're falling behind. Housing costs are too high. Groceries cost more every week. Healthcare bills are overwhelming. Utility bills keep climbing. And now gas prices are spiking again. That's not right and it's not sustainable. So tonight I want to do two things. First, lay out what I'm doing right now to bring your costs down. Second here directly from you your questions, your concerns and your ideas. Your voices shape the work that I do here in Congress as well as presented by the Interstate Legislature. So let me start with this. I know that New Mexicans stress every month about their bills. And I want you to know that I come to work every day looking for ways to lower your bills and make your life easier. Sometimes that work is direct. Since the start of this term my office has returned more than $5 million to New Mexicans. That's money that people are owed from the IRS, Social Security, VA benefits and so much more. If you have a claim with the federal agency, you can contact our office and we can get started working on your case. This isn't wonky policy. It's real money that helps people pay rent, cover groceries and keep up with their bills. So if you're dealing with that federal agency, again my office is here to help. I'm also taking on the bigger drivers of these rising costs. Because the truth is too many prices are high not just because of inflation, but because the system is rigged against working people. And every marketer of the economy for the middle class, housing, healthcare, energy and groceries, we're seeing corporations use their power to drive prices up. And I'm pushing back on that. On housing, I hear it all the time. Rent is too high and buying a home is out of reach. A big reason why is that greeting corporate landlords and private equity firms are buying up our homes right here in ██████████ and artificially raising prices. In many cases, pricing hardworking New Mexicans out of the homes and communities that they've known for their entire lives. That's why I'm leading legislation to stop Wall Street landlords. From gaining the system and I introduce my own bill to crack down on price gouging and mobile home communities. I won't sit by and let bad actors profit from hardworking community members, especially our seniors. On healthcare costs are high because the system prioritizes profits over patients. I'm working at CAP insulin for everybody at $██ limit out-of-pocket prescription costs and reduce medical debt. No one has to choose between staying healthy and paying their bills. They shouldn't have to choose. I'm fighting to reverse cuts that are already driving healthcare insurance premiums higher for families across our district. Now we know that the elimination of the premium tax credits has hurt New Mexicans very hard, some having to choose between staying on their current healthcare plan or not having health care altogether. This is the choice that New Mexicans should not have to make. On groceries, it is frustrating to see the power of the dollar shrink at the store week after week. That's being driven in part by policy decisions by cuts to food assistance and food stamps made under the last Republican tax law and in part by corporate pricing power at the grocery store. I'm working to restore food assistance benefits and make sure that families, seniors, veterans and kids can afford to eat and have food on their table. On utilities I've heard from many of you worried about your electric and water bills. That's why I
