Republican lawmakers to permanently close rural hospitals in our district, in our rural communities and jack up the cost of health insurance for tens of thousands of working class New Mexicans is something I'm fighting to oppose. And that is truly what's at stake. Under Republicans proposed funding plan 8, rural hospitals serving our district would be forced to close. And thousands of working class New Mexican families that are already facing the rising costs of prices at their grocery store and so much more are now on the verge of losing their health insurance altogether. And so, in just a little over a week, nearly all of you are going to receive a letter from your insurance company with your new premiums for next year. Because of this budget and the Republicans refusal to extend the ACA tax credits, many of you are going to see astronomical increases in what you pay for health insurance. I'm fighting for a solution that protects New Mexicans from skyrocketing health care costs and reopens our government as quickly as possible. That's why I've been hard at work here in ██████████, and I'm ready to work across the aisle with my Republican colleagues, many of whom I have good working relationships with, to find a real bipartisan solution to reopen the government. Unfortunately, what we've seen is that Republican leadership in the House has refused to call Republican lawmakers back to ██████████ to do the same. That's not the case for me. I've been here in ████ and I've been back home and I'm waiting for speaking Speaker ███████ to call Republicans back to Congress. In fact, Speaker ███████, under his leadership, has not held a vote on anything in the house since ██████████████. That's ██ days ago. They're refusing to back down on this unprecedented attack on American health care. They're refusing to come to the negotiating table to work with Democrats to bring the shutdown to an end. So I'm going to keep calling on Speaker ███████ to do the right thing, bring Republicans back to ██████████ so that we can all work this out together and vote on a bipartisan funding bill that ends the shutdown and make sure that we don't have to suffer the pain of astronomical increases in our healthcare premiums.
