- Transcript Hi, I'm Congressman Scott Perry, reachable at 202-225-5836. I'm calling to invite you to join a live telephone town hall. I'm holding right now. I wanted to share updates on recent legislation and hear your questions. Just stay on the line to be connected. Please hold while we connect you to your access. This AHCCCS live event is currently in progress. Please note that this call may be monitored, recorded or rebroadcast. Some are half, others are, you know, I'm looking at some here. Let's say Ecuador, they're at 12%. We're tariffing them at 10%. At the same time, I do think that there needs to be deference for some products that could and should be likely exempt from tariffs. If you think about things like cocoa and coffee, we don't grow them in the United States because we literally can't. And so we don't really have much of a choice except to buy from somebody from the countries that produce those things. So look, I know that there's going to be some market disruptions, but at the same time I also know that prior to the national income tax, our country is essentially funded by tariffs. And so I think that there can be a sweet spot here. And I do think that our country has been taken advantage for a long time by enemies and by allies alike. And I think that we should have a more of a level playing field. And I'll just kind of close with this. Growing up, every single town, my own town that I lived in had several small industries. You know, Redline had a cigar industry, different. Like the town I lived in had a dress factory and a shoe factory. We watched all those close up shop and go away. And one of the reasons is because we gave all those industries away to these other countries that were happy to take our industries but also tariff us to provide more work and more industries in their country. And it's hollowed out our country. And I don't think it's been good for us over the long haul. Not only do we not have these industries and the know how that goes with them anymore,

I recommended it to a few relatives over Thanksgiving weekend. I am grateful to have Nomorobo to prevent so many annoying calls from coming thru! It took a while to get it installed on TWC, then another time period till I got any calls to screen. So glad I persevered with the help of Betty Lin-Fisher of Akron Beacon Journal. Some of my calls are stopped after 2 rings, rather than one - but that's great! I seldom get robo calls, but still report when I do. Thank you for coming up with this.
