When hundreds of migrants are being allowed to come over, they actually get to be Border Patrol, patrol the border, and hence the drop in gotaways. Of course, President Trump didn't stop there. He's also addressing the unprecedented wave of illegal immigrants who gained the system. Now, remember that phone app the last administration created? It's CBP1 app. Over 900,000 people used the CBP1 app loophole to slip into the country. And President Trump said, not anymore. He ordered those who came into this gimmick to self deport or face immediate removal. Likewise, he revoked the special parole status that Biden handed out to over 500,000 migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela. No more free passes. My argument all along on that particular policy under the Biden administration was that it was highly illegal. They were using a vague paroling authority that exists in statute, but abusing it, applying it to everyone, as opposed to just case by case basis, which was the congressional intent. So we think it was illegal to begin with, and President Trump has reversed that and created a legal system. Just the first 50 days of the administration, ICE made over 32,000 immigration arrests, about half of which were criminals convicted of additional offenses. We're finally enforcing the law again, and I think it's taking a lot of difference as I continue. Remember, you can press Star three and that gets you in the queue to ask a live question. Now let's move on to a something near and dear to my heart, something I work on constantly, which is the Mexican drug cartels. You really can't talk about the border without talking about the cartels. Cartels are the puppet masters behind much of the chaos. They own the human trafficking, they own the plaza system, and they profit wildly from human smuggling at the border. They charge migrants what's called a piso. It's like a toll to pass through their territory. Their territory being the plazas that these cartels battle for that's why you see battles across the border they're battling each other because that's valuable territory and they gain control there and they flood our communities of course with fentanyl that's poisoning Americans. This is an issue I focused on for the past year and a half as I've led the House task force to combat the Mexican drug cartels. Our task force came up with some very serious solutions and now with President Trump back and the new administration in Mexico we have historic opportunities to implement a lot of those solutions. Day one President Trump officially designated several of the worst cartels as foreign terrorist organizations FTOs that includes the infamous Sinaloa cartel and the extremely violent militaristic Jalisco New Generation cartel. This is a game changer Treating cartels like terrorist organizations gives us power to go after their entire network of evil it is really on the ground practically what it has done is really woken up the Department of Defense to now actually take this very seriously and we're seeing massive changes in.
