Now, without more from me, I'd like to officially get the ball rolling by turning it over to ████'s 4th congressional district, Representative █████████████. Congressman, the floor is yours. Thank you, ██████. Appreciate it. Good evening everyone and thank you for joining me tonight. I appreciate you taking the time to take part in this telephone town hall meeting as we talk about the ongoing government shutdown and what it means to ████, what's still open and how my team can help. Offices in ███████████ and █████████████████████ remain open and fully operational. If you need help with a federal agency, from veterans benefits to passports or Social Security, please call ████████████ or you can █████████████████████ and my team will be there to serve you to stay connected with updates and resources. You can press 7 on your keypad at any time to sign up for my email newsletters. And with that, let's dig in. I'm looking forward to taking your questions. What I thought we'll do is just start off but everybody know what does a government shutdown look like? What is the CR and how do we get here? And I think that's going to be a very, very important place to start. As I've looked over the impact because obviously this is my first shutdown and I'm looking at the impact it's having on folks that really does not have to happen and it is unfortunate. So I'm going to kind of explain why we. Why we got to where we are and how we some kind of way have to get Democrats to prioritize their constituents first and let's get this thing done with. So what a CR means is called continued resolution. It's not very popular on the Republican side. We normally like to have a sense of order that we get our bills done and pass on the right time. And if you guys remember, a couple years ago, we had a CR that our speaker at the time, ██████████████, passed through the House for ██ days. And there are some folks who've never on our side, never voted for cr, never would, and they were very upset about it and had the speaker vacated because of it. So for us to pass the CR as a House, as a conference says a lot. It means that we're on the same page with what our end game would be, which is not to hurt the American people and to give us time to get the regular order done with what we're hoping to do with a clean cr. Clean, by the way, means there's no added and no added negotiating parts to it. It's actually the exact same bill that went through the █████ administration that the.
