Is the rate at which prices increase. And that prices are not increasing now by very much every year. In fact, inflation is low and steady. It's averaging about around 2% increase, a level not seen in years and a really sharp contrast to the spiraling cost increases that we saw under the █████ administration. Core inflation, which excludes food and energy, is it 2% on an annual basis, the lowest rate since President █████ was first president. So it's better than everything we saw under sleepy █████████. And things have cooled substantially under President █████. In many things. Now, here's the deal. The fact that inflation has stopped. Does not necessarily mean prices have gone down. So if you think about it as a line going up, up, up, up, up, that line has now flattened. But what we want to do is we actually want to try to bring prices down. We'll never be able to bring them down to what they were under █████████. Some of those policies did irreparable damage to the American economy that we could never recover. There's too much money. That's flooded the system, but we want to try to bring down prices as much as we can, and we're seeing prices decline in many ways. Over the past year, the cost of many essentials like cheese, cereals, fresh fruit, frozen meals, condiments and even toys have actually gone down, getting much needed relief at the checkout line. That's not everything, but we're also seeing energy prices down. Gas is at its lowest rate in year, so we are seeing in many areas where prices are beginning to come down. And confidence is returning. As inflation cools, ██% of Americans say that they've seen fewer local businesses shut down over the past year, and consumer spending is rising faster than prices. Clear signs that families and employers are breathing easier now that prices are coming under control. Paychecks are outpacing prices after ██ straight months. Under █████, where inflation rose faster than wages, which means that you actually made less money every month. Real wages have increased every single month since ████████████ took office Again, Americans are gaining, not losing buying power now. Congressional Republicans and I was a part of this. We passed a ████ budget that massively it boosted immigration enforcement funding. We provided $██ billion to double ISIS detention capacity to over ███████████ beds. And investment aimed at getting illegals to stop coming and descending the ones that are here, home now. Why do these matter? Why does illegal immigration have so much to do with inflation? Well, think about how much you pay for your house. Think of all the people that are trying to buy houses and live in houses. Well, when tens of millions of people are in our country illegally, they are looking for places to live too. And they are pushing up the prices of housing. They are pushing up the prices of auto insurance. Illegal immigrants can't buy car insurance.
