The war in ████ has driven up gas prices across the country to over $4 on average, and some places in ███████████ are even higher. This is at a time when families are living paycheck to paycheck. They're trying to keep up with skyrocketing cost of living, whether it's groceries, whether it's utilities, housing, now gas prices. Meanwhile, the administration and members of the Cabinet have described these prices as, and I quote, a small price to pay in order to achieve their goals. It's not a small price. It may be a small price for billionaires and millionaires, but for most families, gas is not a small price, nor an optional one. People need to fill up their tanks to get to work, schools, appointments and more. When gas prices are high, families do not have a choice to drive less. They just have to find other places to cut back their spending. This is not just driving up the cost of gas either. There have been spending freezes and grant cancellations to attack renewable energy products, including ones right here in ███████████, so that this activity does not just drive up the cost, but there are cancellations and and attacking renewable energy projects. Many of you are familiar with Revolution Wind. It's a major renewable energy project in the ███████████ sound, which is ██% complete and has finally begun delivering power to our grid. Connecticut is counting on Revolution Wind to meet nearly 5% of our electric distribution.
