- Transcript Hi, this is State Representative Ryan Mackenzie. I'm calling to invite you to participate in our live telephone town hall meeting that's taking place right now. During this call, we will discuss important issues for Pennsylvania and our area. If you'd like to join the call, stay on the line. And if you'd like to ask a question at any time, please press Star in the number three. If you're unable to stay on, but you would like to contact our office, feel free to give a call anytime. Our number is 610 965933. Thank you. Please hold while we connect you to your Access Live event. This Access Live event is currently in progress. Please note this call may be monitored, recorded, or rebroadcast. If you would like to ask a question during today's event, press star three on your telephone keypad at any time. Everybody else. So it's kind of like a radio call in show, but a telephone town hall format. And if you have any other questions or anything that we can help with outside of this type of forum, you can always stop by our office at 34 Two Brookside Road in Mccungy. That's the first floor of the Lower Mccune Township building. We do also have satellite office hours that are taking place at Heidelberg Township on Wednesday mornings and then also Washington Township on Wednesday afternoons. And so if you have any questions about those times or meetings, feel free to, again, give us a call or stop by our office. Our phone number is 610 965933. Again, 610 965933. What we're going to do again, people are queuing up in the line right now. If you have a question, press star and the number three at any time, and you can get in line to ask a question, we'll go through those. But I'm going to start out the town hall today by going through a couple of issues, talking about what's going on in Harrisburg, and then again, we'll go to live questions. So the big thing that we're focused on right now is our budget, our annual state budget in Harrisburg. Every year, we have to pass a balanced budget by our June 30 deadline. It's our constitutionally mandated deadline for the fiscal year here in Pennsylvania. And so the beginning of that process is always starting with the governor giving a budget presentation to the General Assembly that occurred back on March 7. The Governor Shapiro presented a $45.8 billion plan. It's a $2.5 billion increase, or nearly 6% over current year's budget. And the proposal, when you have budgets of this size, there are always a number of.
